Terrale Nero d'Avola 2003 (Sicily)
Some of the best value red wines these days are coming out of Sicily made from the island's native Nero d'Avola grape. A gutsy bargain is Casa Vinicola Calatrasi Terrale Nero d'Avola 2003. It's $9.95. The wine is ruby coloured with a raisiny, earthy nose; it's medium-bodied with sweet black cherry and chocolate flavours. On the palate it's soft and easy drinking. Try it with hamburgers or ribs. That's Casa Vinicola Calatrasi Terrale Nero d'Avola 2003 from Sicily and if you didn't have time to write it down you can find it on tonyaspler.com.
