Coyote's Run Black Paw Vineyard Pinot Noir 2004

This is a terrific Burgundian-style Pinot Noir from one of Ontario’s up-and-coming wineries. Ruby colour with a nose of black cherries, minerals and oak; medium-bodied, ripe fruit, firmly structured, clean lines, very well made; firm structure, very elegant. ****½
Food match: duck breast; rack of lamb

Château des Charmes Estate Bottled Riesling 2004
$15.95 (Vintages' May 13th release, #277228, or online at www.chateaudescharmes.com)
Pale straw colour with lovely honeyed grapefruit nose; light to medium-bodied with a red grapefruit and minerally flavour; well balanced and zesty. ****
Food match: pork roast; cold lobster

Flat Rock Cellars "The Rusty Shed" Chardonnay 2004

The new wave of Ontario wineries producing some excellent wines, worth visiting for the architecture alone. Straw coloured; Burgundian nose, barnyard, oaky, apple notes. Full-bodied on the palate with toasty, orange, tangerine and caramel flavours; lovely spine of acidity; great length. ****½
