Reif Vidal 2004 (Ontario)
$8.75(LCBO #111781) The colour is pale, the nose minerally, grapefruit skin but it's richer on the palate with green melon and kiwi flavours. The taste is both sweet and sour at the same time. ***
Food match: summer salads; cold chicken

Ruffino Lumina Pinot Grigio 2005 (Italy)
$12.95 (LCBO #589101)
Pale straw colour; minerally, peach pit nose with a dry, soft mouth feel and flavours of citrus and pear skin. An ideal aperitif wine. ***½
Food match: white fish dishes; runny cheeses

Spier Discover Merlot 2003 (South Africa)
$9.95 (LCBO #622035)
Deep ruby colour; smoked meat and iodine nose; tastes more like Pinotage than Merlot but richly extracted with blackberry and bitter chocolate flavours. Good value for the money. ***½
