William Fèvre Chablis Champs Royaux 2005 (Burgundy)
$19.80 (LCBO #276436)
This is the best vintage I have tried of this wine since 2000. A terrific Chablis at a bargain price. Pale straw with a nose of green apples and lemons; medium-bodied, crisply dry with great balance and length. A versatile food wine. ****½
Food match: grilled trout; roast chicken

Botter Nero d'Avola "Luca" 2005 (Italy)
$12.85 (1000 mL, LCBO #613604)
A tetrapak that actually packs flavour. Ruby-purple colour; plum, blackberry nose; medium-bodied, sweetish plum flavour cut with good acidity; easy drinking. Good value. ***½
Food match: tomato-based pasta dishes; hamburgers

Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2005 (New Zealand)
$14.45 (LCBO #620062)
A Kiwi Sauvignon that should have been here long ago. Straw coloured with a minerally, green plum and gooseberry bouquet; medium-bodied, fresh with an engaging sweetness in mid palate and a lively, grassy finish. ***½
Food match: avocado salad; goat cheese
