William Fèvre Chablis Champs Royaux 2005 (Burgundy)
The LCBO has an annual sales quota for every product. If it fails to meet the case numbers it's delisted and gone. One such wine that threatens to disappear is a terrific Chablis at a bargain price. The wine is question is William Fèvre Chablis Champs Royaux 2005. This fine white Burgundy is pale straw in colour with a nose of green apples and lemons; it's medium-bodied, crisply dry with great balance and length. And it's a very versatile food wine. You can serve it with fish or chicken or runny cheeses. It costs $19.80 a bottle. That's William Fèvre Chablis Champs Royaux 2005. It deserves at better fate. For Post City magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($19.80, LCBO #276436)

Codorníu Brut Clásico Cava (Penedes, Spain)(Aug 4 - 6)
Alas, alack, the sparkling wine I have always turned to when I want something inexpensive and great tasting has been discontinued. But some LCBO stores still carry it. It's Codorníu Brut Clásico Cava from the Penedes region of Spain. Check the LCBO website for the stores that sill have it at LCBO.com. For $10.70 you get a straw-coloured sparkler with a nose of baked bread; the wine is medium-bodied, dry, clean with a green apple flavour and good length. It makes for an ideal aperitif or a wine to match with seafood. That's Codorníu Brut Clásico Cava from Spain. For Post City magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($10.70, LCBO #503490)
