MontGras Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2005 (Chile)
$12.05 (LCBO #619205)
Winemaker Hernan Gras used to make wine at Brights before returning to his native Chile. This wine is one of the great bargains. Dense ruby colour with a nose of blackcurrant, cedar, and white pepper; medium-bodied, fleshy with flavours of blackcurrant and dark chocolate; firm structure. ***1/2
Food match: lamb shanks; 5-year-old Cheddar

MontGras Chardonnay Reserva 2003 (Chile)
$11.95 (Vintages #675272)
Deep straw colour with a nose of ripe pear and pineapple notes backed by vanilla oak; medium-to-full-bodied with a sweet pear and tropical fruit flavour nicely balanced with acidity and oak. Good value. ***1/2
Food match: garlic chicken; grilled salmon

Creekside Laura’s White 2005 (Ontario)
$17.95 (from the winery: 1-877-262-9463, or www.winerytohome.com)
An attractive blend (49% Sauvignon Blanc, 48% Chardonnay, 3% Viognier), Conundrum writ small. Medium straw colour; oak apparent on the nose, spicy, apple and melon notes; full-bodied, nicely balanced, dry and lively with a grassy, melon flavour; well-made, good length. ****
Food match: Thai dishes; pineapple chicken
