VINTAGES California Pre-release Offering

On Monday, October 23, 2006, the place to be for all premium California wine lovers is Toronto's Arcadian Court, in the Sears Tower at Bay and Queen. Golden State wine fans will have an opportunity to be among the first to sample more than 50 premium California wines from the upcoming October 28th and other future VINTAGES releases.

From Chardonnays to Cabernet Sauvignons and beyond, the great wines of California are among the world's best. Enjoy a sneak preview and sample wines representing the diverse terroir of the Golden State, including Opus One 2002, Château Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon 2002, Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon "Special Selection" 2003, Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon 2003, Duckhorn Merlot 2003, Kistler Chardonnay 2004, Landmark "Overlook" Chardonnay 2004, and many more.

"California wines are having a banner year at VINTAGES with sales of both red and white up 27 percent year to date, and we expect the boom times to continue,"said Rick Slomka, Canadian Director for the Wine Institute of California. "There is a renewed enthusiasm and energy for the California category fuelled by a stronger dollar, a string of unparalleled vintages, aggressive marketing tactics and improved selection."

"We are very excited about this offering which showcases so many premium and unique wines from a range of producers," stated Slomka. "The quality and diversity is second to none. And, the timing is ideal for it provides the consumer with a chance to experience some California dreamin' first hand just prior to the holiday season. Our wines make great gift ideas and are welcome additions to any festive table."

Fine wine lovers will be treated to a bevy of California products during the consumer tasting to be held from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. A limited number of tickets are available for the event. The California Pre-release Offering is a collaboration between The Wine Institute of California and VINTAGES. The Wine Institute of California is a trade association of 840 California wineries and affiliated organizations representing one of the foremost wine growing regions in the world.

Based in San Francisco, the Institute has also established promotional campaigns in 20 countries around the world to further global recognition of the California wine industry, which holds the title of world's fourth largest wine producer.

The Canadian office coordinates a number of promotional activities every year designed to educate and inform media, trade and consumers about the quality and diversity of products available from the Golden State.
