  • Mission Hill Five Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2004
  • Sawmill Creek Merlot Tetra

Henry of Pelham Cuvée Catharine Brut Rosé (Ontario)
$29.95 (LCBO #4051)
Pink champagnes (French, that is) tend to be costly, so this fine effort from Henry of Pelham is a good bargain by comparison. Salmon pink colour with a minerally, wild strawberry nose, it's dry, strawberry flavour, medium-bodied with a hint of mint leaf on the finish. ****
Food match: aperitif; grilled salmon

Mission Hill Five Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2004 (British Columbia)
$13.95 (LCBO #614289)
A tasty offering from the Okanagan. Yellow straw colour; intense peachy, oaky nose; full-bodied, ripe peach fruit with toasty oak, full on the palate and well balanced. ****
Food match: roast chicken; grilled tuna

Sawmill Creek Merlot Tetra (Ontario non-VQA)
$10.95 (LCBO #26807)
This off-shore blend is a good introductory red wine for the price. Light ruby colour with a bouquet of cherries; light and fruity and uncomplicated, it's easy drinking. ***½
Food match: hamburgers; pizza
