MontGras Chardonnay Reserva 2005
Two weeks ago I recommended a Cabernet Sauvignon from a Chilean producer who used to make wine in Ontario for Brights. The winery is Vina MontGras and I'd like to recommend another of their wines that's available at the LCBO. MontGras Chardonnay Reserva 2005. It's deep straw in colour with a nose of ripe pear and pineapple notes backed by vanilla oak; on the palate it's medium-to-full-bodied with sweet pear and tropical fruit flavours nicely balanced with acidity and oak. It's great value at $11.95 a bottle. Try it with garlic chicken or grilled salmon. That's MontGras Chardonnay Reserva 2005 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.95, LCBO #675272)

Creekside Laura's White 2005
When it comes to the more interesting Ontario wines, sometimes you have to go to the winery to get them. Either that or order on the net through www.winerytohome.com. A wine in question Creekside Laura's White 2005. This wine is an unusual blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier. The colour is medium straw with oak apparent on the nose integrated with spicy, apple and melon notes; the wine is full-bodied, nicely balanced, dry and lively on the palate with a grassy, melon flavour. It's well crafted and has good length. It costs $17.95 a bottle, at the winery or through www.winerytome.com. Try it with pineapple chicken or Thai dishes. That's Creekside Laura's White 2005 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($17.95 from Creekside Estate Winery or www.winerytohome.com)
