Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay 2006 (South Australia)
$14.15 (LCBO #321943)
A bargain Chard from down under. Straw colour, intense and oaky with buttery, tropical fruit aromas; sweet and spicy on the palate, clean lined with good acidity. Medium to full-bodied. Great value. ****
Food match: roast chicken; runny Brie

Dante Rivetti Moscato d’Asti Riveto 2005 (Piedmont)
$17.95 (LCBO #30775)
This is my favourite summer wine for pre-BBQ sipping. At 5% alcohol it tastes like biting into a Muscat grape with a prickle on the tongue; sweet and grapey, with an aromatic nose of carnations and cardamom – a wine to enjoy without analysis. ****
Food match: aperitif wine; cake

Jackson-Triggs Delaine Vineyard Pinot Noir 2005 (Ontario)
$25.30 (Available at Wine Rack stores)
Light ruby in colour with a minerally, cherry nose, the wine gives a nod to Burgundy with its lightness and harmonious balance. Flavours of ripe cherries and raspberries fill the mouth sustained by lively acidity. The tannic lift on the finish gives the wine a structural flourish. ****½
Food match: lamb cutlets; duck breast
