Almost water white in colour; a nose of quince and pear skin; tart and
taut with a crisp, lemony flavour, driving acidity with surprisingly good
length. Food matches: grilled sardines, shrimp salad.
Hillebrand Trius Dry Riesling 2001 (Ontario)
Palest straw colour; fresh, peaches and limes bouquet; grapefruit flavour
with a floral grace note, lively acidity. Food matches: Thai dishes,
lightly curried dishes.
Vineland Estates Pinot Gris 2000 (Ontario)
The third vintage of this wine that won an Ontario Wine Awards Gold medal
in its first year. The maturity of the vines is producing more complex
flavours now. Pale straw colour; a nose of white peaches; crisp on the
palate with peach and citrus flavours; elegant and well balanced with
good length. Food matches: grilled salmon, crab legs.
