Barefoot Cellars Merlot
A California wine under $10 and it's actually drinkable! Yes, indeed. Thanks to our smokin' loonie those Gallo guys, with their economies of scale, have produced a crowd-pleaser non-vintage red, which means a blend of two years, called Barefoot Cellars Merlot at $9.90 a bottle. Ruby coloured, it has a soft, creamy blueberry nose with a mocha and blueberry flavour. Medium-bodied, fruity and easy drinking with a sweet vanilla oak note. Try it with beef stew. That's Barefoot Cellars Merlot from California. To find this review visit 680 News.com and click on my link. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($9.90, LCBO #53991)

Equus Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Now here's a very expressive wine for the price from Chile's Maipo Valley currently available at Vintages outlets. Equus Sauvignon Blanc 2007. Don't be put off by the horse reference. It's not another Cat's Pee on a Goosberry Bush. The winery owner also owns stables. The wine is very pale in colour with a grassy, gooseberry nose. On the palate it's crisply dry with intense flavours of asparagus, grapefruit and gooseberry flavours. A delicious Sauvignon for $11.95. Match it with goat's cheese or grilled sardines. That's Equus Sauvignon Blanc 2007 from Chile at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.95, Vintages #59394)
