680News wine reviews – April 11–13, 2008

Golan Heights Yarden Pinot Noir 2003
If you're look for a kosher wine for the Passover meal, Vintages is currently carrying Golan Heights Winery Yarden Pinot Noir 2003 from Israel. It costs $21.95 a bottle. The wine is deeply coloured, moreso than red Burgundy with concentrated flavours of black fruits – cherry, blackberry, black currant – with loads of heft. Three years of bottle age have rounded out the tannins to a silky finish. It's ideal with brisket. That's Golan Heights Winery Yarden Pinot Noir 2003 from Israel. You'll find it at Vintages outlets. If you can't find it, call the LCBO Infoline, 416-365-500 and they'll tell you which stores have it. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($21.95, Vintages #60756)

Fetzer Sundial Chardonnay 2006
Trolling the LCBO shelves for bargains from California, I came across this one – Fetzer Sundial Chardonnay 2006. It costs a wallet-friendly $13.35. The colour is pale straw with fresh apple and pear aromas on the nose. It's dry, medium-bodied and mouth-filling with good length – a very versatile food wine that you could serve with roast chicken or salmon. That's Fetzer Sundial Chardonnay 2006 from California. If you're driving and can't make a note of the name you'll find it by visiting 680News.com and clicking on my link. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($13.35, LCBO #291674)
