The 2nd Annual Niagara Wine Weekend & Auction (NWA) proudly announces its outstanding line-up of events for the three-day annual fundraiser held in Niagara-on-the-Lake in support of the SickKids Foundation and the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation.
Grammy Award-winning pop trio The Pointer Sisters and soul legends The Temptations headline the exciting weekend program, June 1315, 2008.
Set amid some of the most beautiful wineries in the Niagara region, the annual charity affair gathers the talents of Ontario's finest wine producers, local and celebrity chefs, top restaurants, leading sommeliers and world-class entertainers to create an unparalleled weekend experience.
Similar to the prestigious Napa Valley Wine Auction, the goal of the Niagara Wine Weekend & Auction is to profile Ontario's first-class vintners while generously raising funds for the two regional healthcare organizations.
"This weekend is all about an excellent philanthropic endeavour that celebrates the outstanding community of Ontario wine producers who stand side-by-side among the best in the world," said John Peller, President & C.E.O, Andrew Peller Ltd., and founder of the NWA. "The NWA is a first-class event that offers an exquisite combination of fine wine, regional cuisine, exceptional entertainment and fabulous auction items."
In 2007, the inaugural charity extravaganza attracted more than 1,100 guests. Celebrities in attendance included honourary host Dan Aykroyd, Michael Burgess, Matt Dusk, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and American Idol's Taylor Hicks.
"We're thrilled and honoured to have The Pointer Sisters and The Temptations here for the Gala. They're two of the all-time best North American soul and R & B groups and famous for their high-energy performances and incredible harmonies. They're definitely a highlight of the weekend," said Peller.
With countless No.1 hits, The Pointer Sisters and The Temptations have garnered an impressive number of industry accolades, including multiple Grammy Awards and various Hall of Fame inductions. Their chart-topping successes span three decades and both groups continue to play to sold-out venues worldwide. They perform at the NWA's Gala Dinner & Dance on Saturday, June 14th.
In addition to the Gala Dinner & Dance, the stellar weekend agenda includes an Opening Night VIP Reception; Wine Garden Party; Live, Silent and Barrel Auctions as well as the Wineries Showcase Sunday. Tickets to experience the Niagara Wine Weekend & Auction are now on sale at $1000 per person and can be purchased online or by cheque.
