Robertson Winery Shiraz 2007
South Africa has been stealing some of Australia's thunder down under – especially when it comes to Shiraz. Robertson Winery Shiraz 2007 is a gutsy wine that's deeply coloured with a smoky black raspberry nose. It's full on the palate with a sweet earthy blackberry flavour, enlivened with a good spine of acidity. It costs $12.05 at the LCBO. Try it with pork rib or pepper steak. That's Robertson Winery Shiraz 2007 from South Africa. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($12.05, LCBO #610949)

Hardy's Stamp of Australia Chardonnay Semillon 2007
When it comes to winemaking, Aussies break all the rules. They take a Bordeaux grape like Semillon and blend it with the Burgundy grape Chardonnay – quelle horreur. But you know what – it works, and it's under $10. Hardy's Stamp of Australia Chardonnay Semillon 2007 is pale straw with an apple and melon nose; it's off-dry, medium-bodied with a nutty finish. It costs $9.30 a bottle. Serve it with chicken salad or camembert. That's Hardy's Stamp of Australia Chardonnay Semillon 2007. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($9.30, LCBO #335638)
