Ubuntu Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Sauvignon Blanc is an ideal summer wine and you don't have to pay through the nose to get one that has real varietal character. In the LCBO's South African shelves, look for Ubuntu Sauvignon Blanc 2007. It's very pale in colour with a grassy, green plum and nettle nose. It's light-bodied and very crisp with fresh gooseberry and fig flavours. It costs $9.90 a bottle. Serve it with citrus-marinated seafood or goat's cheese. That's Ubuntu Sauvignon Blanc 2007 from South Africa. For Post City Magazines. I'm Tony Aspler. ($9.90, LCBO #36798)

Toro Tinta de Toro 2005
If you're dragging out the BBQ here's a recommendation for a Spanish red with power to stand up to any burnt offering. Toro Tinta de Toro 2005 is a rustic, powerful wine from old vines grown in the Toro region. It's dense and dark with an earthy, plummy nose. Full-bodied and dry, it offers black fruit flavours with a spicy note and a firm structure. Ideal for BBQ fare. It costs $11.90 a bottle. That's Toro Tinta de Toro 2005 from Spain. And you can find this review at 680News.com by clicking on my link. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.90, LCBO #19570)
