Southbrook Cabernet Merlot Shiraz 2006 (Ontario)
$15.05 (LCBO #45609)
An interesting blend at a good price. Deep ruby colour with a nose of black cherries, wet earth and green pepper. Medium-bodied with lively acidity. ***½
Food match: hamburger; ribs

Cono Sur Viognier 2007 (Chile)
$9.95 (LCBO #64287)
A steal at the price. Medium straw colour; honey, floral, peach nose with a flavour of ripe peaches; full on the palate with lively acidity and a touch of residual sugar. ****
Food match: Pineapple chicken; light curries

Cousiño Macul Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 (Chile)
$15.35 (LCBO #212993)
Not as fruit-driven as most Chilean Cabs but more elegant and stylish. Ruby colour with a mature rim; blackcurrant and eucalyptus nose with a leather note; lovely mouth feel, velvety and full on the palate with a sweet and savoury flavour; well balanced with soft tannins. ****
Food match: lamb chops; mature cheddar
