Twin Fin Shiraz 2005 (California)
$12.95 (LCBO #34132)
A simple, well made wine. Dense ruby colour with a nose of black raspberries and pepper. Sweet and jammy flavour but firmly structured and easy drinking. ***½
Food match: BBQ hamburgers; polish sausage

Château des Charmes Cuvée d’Andrée Rosé 2006 (Ontario)
$13.95 (LCBO #333260)
A gold medal winner at the Ontario Wine Awards 2008 – a blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep salmon colour; strawberry and rhubarb nose; medium-bodied, dry strawberry flavour with a lovely mouth feel. Good value. ****
Food match: cold ham; cold salmon

Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio 2007 (Australia)
$11.20 (LCBO #68254)
For my palate, the best wine Yellow Tail has made yet. Pale straw colour with a bouquet of white peaches; medium-bodied, dry with a peach and almond flavour. Well balanced and quaffable. ***½
Food match: aperitif wine; salted nuts
