A well priced Shiraz with lots of flavour. Dense ruby colour with smoky black plum nose/ Medium-bodied with sweet blackberry and plum flavour and a hint of pepper. Finished with a note of smoky, charred oak. ***½
Food match: BBQ steak; lamb chops

Red Knot Shiraz 2006 (McLaren Vale, Australia)
$17.25 (LCBO #619395)
A step-up from the usual bargain-priced Aussie Shiraz. Dense purple colour; on the nose smoky black fruits; full-bodied, dry, mouth-filling blackberry and spice flavours. ****
Food match: pepper steak; aged cheddar

Daniel Lenko Unoaked Chardonnay 2005 (Niagara Peninsula, Ontario)
$19.95 (Vintages #0075630, released Saturday August 30th)
A really well-made wine. Medium straw in colour with a complex nose of apple and white peach; medium to full-bodied, dry apple-peach flavour with finely balanced acidity and great length. ****½
