Hillebrand Trius White 2007
You might have a bit of difficulty tracking down Hillebrand Trius White 2007 at the LCBO but you can order it through www.winerytohome.com or buy it at the winery. And it would be worth it. It's a blend of Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. It costs $18.80 at the LCBO, 25 cents more if you order on line. The wine is pale straw in colour with a spicy, grapefruit and citrus nose. It's off-dry, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced with good length. It's a lovely summer sipper or you can match it with Thai dishes or cold ham. That's Hillebrand Trius White 2007 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($18.80, LCBO # 54957)

Nederburg Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa is more like those crisp, grassy Sauvignons of the Loire Valley than it is the more tropical fruit style of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. And it's a good deal cheaper too. A case in point is Nederburg Sauvignon Blanc 2007. Pale straw in colour with a lime tint, it has nose of cut grass, green fig and elderberries. It's medium-bodied, crisp and refreshing with grapefruit, lime, pear and green fig flavours. Really good value at $11.45 a bottle. I had it with grilled scallops and it was delicious. That's Nederburg Sauvignon Blanc 2007 from South Africa. For post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.45, LCBO #382713)
