Tarapaca Syrah Reserva 2000 (Chile)
The bottle I saw was labelled "Shyraz" so they were obviously
trying to cover all the bases!
Deep and dense purple colour; engaging nose of flowers, spice and smoky
black fruits; very ripe and fleshy with a sweet blackberry core. Food
matches: Pepper steak, old Cheddar.
Covey Run Fume Blanc 2000 (Washington)
Medium straw colour; grassy, cat's pee nose that opens on the palate to
a rich gooseberry and smoke flavour. Nice dry finish. Food matches:
Goat's cheese salad, grilled monk fish.
Barrington Banjo Collection Semillon-Chardonnay (S.E. Australia)
Medium straw colour; citrus and melon notes on the nose; ripe fruit, full
on the palate, good acidity with a dry finish. A well made wine for the
price. Food matches: Chicken kebabs, Creole Shrimp.
