J. & F. Lurton Gran Lurton Corte Friulano 2006
The Lurton Brothers, Jean & Francois of Bordeaux, make wine all over the world. In Argentina they produce a wine called Gran Lurton Corte Friulano 2006 – a blend of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and the local Torrontes grape. It's a deeply coloured wine with a spicy, toasty, tropical fruit flavour, rich and full-bodied with sweet mango and peach notes. It costs $19.95 at Vintages outlets and it's well worth the money. Try it with roast chicken or pork dishes. That's Gran Lurton Corte Friulano 2006 from Argentina. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($19.95, Vintages #66829)

Robertson Winery Shiraz 2006
South Africa continues to challenge Australia in the Shiraz department. New to the LCBO's product list is Robertson Winery Shiraz 2006 that sells for a very reasonable $11.95 a bottle. The wine is dense ruby in colour with smoky black plum nose. It's medium-bodied with sweet blackberry and plum flavours and a hint of pepper. It finishes with a note of smoky, charred oak. Try it with BBQ steak or ribs. That's Robertson Winery Shiraz 2006 from South Africa. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.95, LCBO #610949)
