680News wine reviews – September 26–28, 2008

J & F Lurton Les Salices Pinot Noir 2007
A drinkable Pinot Noir at $11.95? That's a tall order but there is one that caught my attention. J & F Lurton Les Salices Pinot Noir 2007 from the Languedoc. It's ruby coloured with a dry black cherry flavour, quite full on the palate with lots of extract and soft tannins. A good wine for lamb or salmon. That's J & F Lurton Les Salices Pinot Noir 2007. If you miss any of my reviews visit 680News.com and click on my link to read them. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.95, LCBO #28761)

Finca Antigua Crianza 2004
The La Mancha region of Spain, long a source of wines of dubious quality, has smartened up in the last few years and is producing some very tasty products at bargain prices. Finca Antigua Crianza 2004 is a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. It's medium-bodied, dry, with an earthy red berry flavour and cocoa-powder-like tannins. It costs $15.95 at Vintages stores. Try it with gourmet sausage or beef kebabs. That's Finca Antigua Crianza 2004 from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($15.95, Vintages #981613)
