Saturday, October 5th release:
Château La Vieille Curé 1999 (Fronsac, Bordeaux)
Dense purple colour with a smoky, blackcurrant nose; medium bodied with
a forward, ripe blackcurrant and spicy oak flavour; firmly structured
claret worthy of cellaring for 3–5 years.
Marchesi de' Frescobaldi Mormoreto 1999 (Tuscany)
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot and Cabernet Franc from
Frescobaldi's Castello di Nipozzano property. Dense purple-black
colour; vanilla and black cherry fruit, well extracted with rich and full-bodied
New World flavours.
Ca'Marcanda/Gaja "Promis" 1999 (Tuscany)
An interesting blend of 45% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Sangiovese
from Bolgeri. Densely coloured with tobacco leaf and vanilla notes on
the nose; great extract, but well balanced and elegant blackberry flavours.
A keeper, 5 years plus.

Cape Mentelle Cabernet/Merlot 2000 "Trinders Vineyard" (Margaret
River, W. Australia)
Dense purple colour; vanilla oak with concentrated blackcurrant; sweet
generous fruit on the palate, medium-bodied with a good finish that carries
the succulent fruit. Good value.
Gaja "Rossj-Bass" 2000 (Piedmont)
Angela Gaja does it again! A stunning Chardonnay in Burgundian style:
straw colour with a concentrated nose of toast, apple and spicy oak with
a barnyard note. Great structure, elegant and nutty with well-handled
oak; long finish.
Hedges "Three vineyards" 1998 (Columbia Valley, Washington)
All three vineyards are in the new appellation of Red Mountain. Ruby colour;
red berry and vanilla oak on the nose; elegant and stylish, firmly structured
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fruit that will need 2–3 years in the
