Jeruzalem Ormoz-Lutomer Sivi Pinot 2006
I'm not a great Pinot Grigio fan, I call it the Paris Hilton of white wines; but as Pinot Gris the same grape usually oak-aged that's a whole different ballgame. There's a terrific Pinot Gris from a region that gets little attention Slovenia. The wine is Jeruzalem Ormoz-Lutomer Sivi Pinot 2006. This was a revelation to me an Alsace-style Pinot Gris at a bargain price. Golden colour with a rich, peach nose. Off-dry, mouth-filling, ripe peach flavours with a spicy note. It costs $13.95 at Vintages stores. That's Jeruzalem Ormoz-Lutomer Sivi Pinot 2006 from Slovenia. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($13.95, Vintages #73247)
Vina MontGras Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2007
Hernan Gras used to make wines for Brights. Sixteen years ago he opened a winery in Chile named MontGras. With his Ontario connection we see his wines turning up in Vintages. Now there's, on the general list, Vina MontGras Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2007. Pale, almost water white in colour with a nose of cut grass and elderberries, it has refreshing taste of gooseberries and limes. Well priced at $11.95. Try it with goat's cheese salad or grilled scallops. That's Vina MontGras Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2007 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler.
