680News wine reviews – October 24–26, 2008

Errazuriz Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Chile is the new Australia when it comes to bargain wine shopping these days. Where else can you buy a Sauvignon Blanc for $11.80 that actually tastes like Sauvignon Blanc? The wine is question is Errazuriz Sauvignon Blanc 2008 that offers rich, ripe flavours of guava and citrus fruit. The wine has a sweetness at the core but finishes refreshingly dry. That's Errazuriz Sauvignon Blanc 2008 from Chile. Try it with grilled scallops or asparagus. If you miss any of these reviews you can visit 680News.com and click on my link. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($11.80, LCBO #263574).

Errazuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
While Chile is renowned for making great value wines in the $10–$12 range, they also produce great values for the quality in higher price categories. Errazuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 is a beautifully made wine that costs $17.75 at the LCBO. It's dense ruby in colour with a concentrated blackcurrant, mint and black olive nose. It offers mouth-filling sweet fruit, a firm structure with soft tannins and finishes dry and savoury. Try it with roast beef or leg of lamb. That's Errazuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2006. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($17.75, LCBO #335174)
