Gallo Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2007
The California winemaker's notes for Gallo Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2007 say that it's a blend of Pinot Grigio, Viognier, Mixed White varieties, a grape called Symphony, Muscat of Alexandria, and Chardonnay! This fruit cocktail actually tastes pretty good and the price is certainly right at $8.95 a bottle. Medium-bodied with fruity, apple and melon flavours, it has a touch of residual sweetness but enough acidity for balance. Try it with pork and apple sauce. That's Gallo Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2007 from California. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($8.95, LCBO #82594)

Trapiche Astica Merlot/Malbec 2007
Finding a drinkable wine for $7.95 at the LCBO is cause for celebration. Trapiche Astica Merlot Malbec 2007 from Argentina deserves a round of applause. Astica means flower in the local native Indian language and that's what comes through on the nose and palate. Ruby coloured with a fruity nose of black cherries and rose petals, it's soft and easy drinking with a black Muscat flavour and a little sweetness. You could even chill it to bring out the freshness. That's Trapiche Astica Merlot Malbec 2007 from Argentina. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($7.95, LCBO #359075)
