Miguel Torres Santa Digna Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2006
If you like Cabernet Sauvignon and you've got a price ceiling of $15, head for Vintages stores and pick up a bottle of Miguel Torres Santa Digna Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2006. It's a great value wine from Chile, more elegant than others in this price range. Dense purple-black in colour with a smoky, blackcurrant and plum bouquet, it's full-bodied with spicy, oaky tones melded with sweet fruit but well structured. Match it with lamb cutlets or braised ribs. That's Miguel Torres Santa Digna Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2006 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($14.95, Vintages Essential #177451)

Domaine Pinnacle Ice Cider
Ontario has captured the attention of the world with Icewine and soon, I predict, Quebec will follow suit with its own unique dessert wine. And it's half the price of Icewine. New to the LCBO is Domaine Pinnacle Ice Cider, a product made from frozen apples. Like Icewine, it comes in half bottles, and this one costs $29.95. It has a deep old gold colour with a concentrated nose of cider and honey. It's medium-bodied with a barley sugar and apple puree flavours. Its lively acidity gives it great length. That's Domaine Pinnacle (like Pinnacle) Ice Cider from Quebec. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($29.95, LCBO #94094)
