680News wine reviews – March 13–15, 2009

Château Treviac 2007
Corbières in the Languedoc region of southern France offers some good value, hearty red wines. Château Treviac 2007, currently at Vintages outlets, is a blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache. The wine is dense purple in colour with a smoky, black olive, medicinal nose. It's full-bodied, offering a solid black cherry flavour with a savoury, dry finish. It costs $16.95 at Vintages outlets. I had it with chili con carne and it was delicious. That's Château Treviac 2007 from Corbières. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($16.95, Vintages #670505)

Tempus Two Copper Cabernet Merlot 2006
A new arrival on LCBO shelves all the way from New South Wales, Australia, is Tempus Two Copper Cabernet Merlot 2006. The wine is dense purple in colour with a nose of blackcurrants and vanilla oak. It's gratifyingly full on the palate with sweet blackcurrant flavours backed by lively acidity. A nicely balanced wine for $18.95 available at LCBO stores. Try it with leg of lamb or duck breast. That's Tempus Two Copper Cabernet Merlot 2006. If you missed the name you can read the review by visiting 680News.com and clicking on my link. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($18.95, LCBO #91736)
