Fontanafredda Eremo 1998 (Piedmont)
A contemporary blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera. Light ruby colour; spicy,
chocolate nose with a lively, sour cherry flavour; firmly structured with
good balance and drinkable now. A kind of New World Nebbiolo. Food
matches: veal chop, tomato-based pasta dishes.
Indaba Shiraz 2001 (South Africa)
Shiraz is South Africa's secret weapon – don't miss this bargain-priced
beauty. Ruby colour; coconut and black raspberry on the nose; full on
the palate with a fruity blackberry flavour with a hint of iodine. Food
matches: duck cassoulet, pepper steak.
Konzelmann Pinot Blanc 2000 (Ontario)
A consistently well-made white wine at a budget-friendly price. Medium
straw colour with a nose of white peach and lemon. Medium-bodied, fresh
and zesty with a peachy-citrus flavour. A refreshing change from Chardonnay.
