A mature Ontario Merlot at an interesting price. Deep ruby in colour; cedar and blueberry nose; medium-bodied, well extracted fruit with a firm structure. **** (88)

Creekside Cabernet 2007 (Niagara Peninsula)

A very affordable Ontario "claret." Ruby colour with a redcurrant nose tempered by vanilla oak; light-bodied with enough grip to make it interesting. ***½ (86)
Food match: lamb burgers; shepherd's pie

Pillitteri Cabernet Merlot 2007 (Niagara Peninsula)

A rich blend for the price. Deep ruby colour with a bouquet of sandalwood and chocolate. Medium-bodied with a flavour of sweet currants with a rose petal note. Firm structure. Good value. ***½ (86)
