Casa Thaulero Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (Italy)
$6.95 (LCBO #621953)
You can’t get them any cheaper than this and still find it drinkable. The wine is dense purple in colour with a nose of cedar, cooked cherry and leather. The taste is dry, medium-bodied with a plum and cherry flavour and a touch of mint on the finish. ***½ (85)
Food match: burgers; pizza

Strewn Chardonnay Barrel-Aged 2007 (Ontario)
$11.95 ($12.95 after the limited time offer expires, LCBO #522730)
Light straw in colour with a perfumed apple nose. The wine is medium-bodied, dry and well balanced with lively acidity. The oak is not intrusive but fleshes out the middle palate. ***½ (86)
Food match: seafood pasta; Caesar salad

Stoneleigh Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé 2008 (New Zealand)
$16.95 (LCBO #122275)
A very well made rosé. The wine is deep pink with a nose of red berry fruit; fresh and lively on the palate it has flavours of raspberry and strawberry, finishing crisply dry. **** (87)
Food match: salmon; chicken salad
