Oyster Bay Pinot Noir 2007 (New Zealand)
$19.95 (Vintages #590414)
A very tasty Pinot at an affordable price. Deep ruby colour with a smoky, toasty, raspberry nose; medium-bodied, sweet fruit with a creamy, spicy mid palate. ****½ (89)
Food match: veal chop; duck breast

Gray Fox Chardonnay 2007 (California)
$14.95 for 1500 mL (LCBO #107193)
Cheap and cheerful. Not much on the nose but enough sweet apple and pear fruit to sustain the flavour. Chill it and gulp it by the pool. *** (85)
Food match: Caesar salad; runny Brie

Castillo Perelada Reserva Brut Cava (Spain)
$17.95 (Vintages #114488)
One terrific cava. Pale straw colour with a minerally, apple and citrus peel nose; medium-bodied, dry, elegant with green apple and lemon flavours. Beautifully made. ****½ (90)
