Stoneleigh Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé
Gone are the days when rosé was a sweet confection. New World winemakers are producing a dry product with all the care they lavish on their white and red wines. Recently I tasted a rosé from New Zealand made from Pinot Noir that was absolutely delicious. It's Stoneleigh Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé 2008. It costs $16.95 a bottle. The wine is deep pink with a nose of red berry fruit; fresh and lively on the palate, it has flavours of raspberry and strawberry, finishing crisply dry. A good wine for salmon or chicken salad. That's Stoneleigh Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé 2008 from New Zealand. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($16.95, LCBO #122275)

Gramona Gessamí 2007
Released this Saturday at Vintages is a great summer wine for drinking on the patio as the BBQ heats up. It comes from Spain's Penedes region and is a blend of Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer. The wine is called Gramona Gessamí 2007 and with a mix of grapes like that you'd expect a highly perfumed wine with flavours of orange blossom, tangerine, melon and cinnamon. Which is exactly what you get. It costs $19.95 at Vintages. And it's worth every penny. Try it as an aperitif, nicely chilled. That's Gramona Gessamí from Spain at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($19.95, Vintages #115782)
