Beringer White Zinfandel 2008
White Zinfandel is one of those wines that experienced wine drinkers tend to turn their noses up at. But don't dismiss it out of hand because White Zinfandel is an introductory wine and it's the perfect wine to have with highly spiced dishes like light curries, Thai or Mexican food. And it's inexpensive. Beringer White Zinfadel 2008 from California is pink with a bluish tint in colour and has a candied strawberry flavour but enough citrus acidity to stop it from cloying. It costs $9.90 a bottle. That's Beringer White Zinfandel 2008 from California. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($9.90, LCBO #239756)

Quinta da Aveleda Vinho Verde 2008
A way to prolong the idea of summer is to drink the quintessential summer wine – Portugal's Vinho Verde. Made from grapes you may not have come across before - Loureiro, Arinto, Trajadura, Avesso and Azal – you'll find it's crisply dry with a lemony, minerally flavour that  dances on the palate with a slight effervescence. Low in alcohol and very refreshing. A good example is Quinta da Aveleda Vinho Verde 2008. It costs an affordable $9.95 a bottle at the LCBO. Chill it well and serve it as an aperitif or with grilled sardines. That's Quinta de Aveleda Vinho Verde from Portugal. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. ($9.95, LCBO #89995)
