Surani Cosarossa Primitivo di Manduria 2007 (Puglia, Italy)
$19.95 (Vintages #134593)
Dense ruby-black colour with a nose of dates and raisins. Rich and full-bodied on the palate with flavours of plums and raisins with lively acidity. Full-bodied, sweet and raisiny, rustic and powerful with a spicy note. ****½ (89)
Food match: pepper steak, blue cheese

Tabalí Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (Chile)
$12.95 (released on Saturday at Vintages #662999)
Almost water white but its colour belies its concentration of bouquet and flavour. The taste of green figs, gooseberries and fresh cut grass fill the mouth carried on vibrant, crisp acidity. A great wine for the price. ****½ (89)
Food match: grilled scallops; Caesar salad

Trivento Reserve Syrah 2008 (Mendoza, Argentina)
$12.95 (released on Saturday at Vintages #663112)
Dense purple colour with a smoky, blackberry nose; concentrated, blackberry flavour with a floral grace note; fruity, full-bodied and satisfying with a spicy, peppery finish. Great value. ****½
Food match: beef casserole; aged cheddar
