Jim Jim The Down-UnderDog Shiraz 2008
On Saturday Vintages is releasing a bargain-priced Shiraz with the delightful name of Jim Jim The Down-Underdog 2008. As you'd expect, the product is named after the winery's dog. It's dense purple-black in colour with a nose of roasted meat and herbs with a medicinal note. On the palate, it shows sweet jammy blackberry fruit with a peppery, clovey note, ending with soft tannins. An easy drinking wine at $14.95 a bottle. That's Jim Jim The Down-Underdog Shiraz 2008 from South Australia at Vintages outlets from Saturday. Serve it with hearty meat dishes. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler. Tabalí Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2008
At Vintages on Saturday you'll be able to buy a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc that's great value for the price. It's Tabalí Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2008 from Chile's Colchagua Valley. For $12.95 you get a wine that's almost water white, but its colour belies its concentration of bouquet and flavour. The taste of green figs, gooseberries and fresh cut grass fill the mouth carried on vibrant, crisp acidity. A great wine for the price. Try it with grilled scallops.
