8th Annual Wine and Herb Festival
The Wine & Herb Festival is back again this May, bringing together the 22 Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake for a casual celebration of great wine and fresh herbs.
Visitors will delight in the wonderful connection between wine and herbs while touring the 22 distinctive wineries. Each stop will feature a premium VQA wine that has been selected by our winemakers to highlight the flavour and aroma of an herb-themed food pairing.
The Wine and Herb Festival touring program is a showcase of Niagara-on-the-Lake and some of Ontario's finest VQA wines. The event will run throughout five weekends of May – 1/2, 8/9, 15/16, 22/23 and 29/30 – from 11 am to 5 pm.
Each winery has been assigned a fresh herb to turn into a delicious yet simple food pairing. Featured pairings include Double Smoked Bacon and Chive Cornbread Cake with Peppered Merlot Jelly paired with an '07 Merlot, Ontario Buffalo Mozzarella
and Basil Pizza served with an '06 Sauvignon Blanc and Goat Cheese Tart with Oregano Marinated Grape Tomato accompanied by an '07 Cabernet Franc. For a listing of all 22 wine and food pairings, visit www.wineriesofniagaraonthelake.com.
