More Wines of the Week

  • Trivento Tribu Syrah 2008
  • Domaine de Sérame Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
  • Suavia Soave Classico 2008

Trivento Tribu Syrah 2008 (Argentina)
$8.95 (LCBO #145292)
It's deep ruby in colour with a minerally, blackberry nose and that characteristic Syrah medicinal note. It's medium to full-bodied with a fresh, sweet blackberry flavour and a warm alcoholic finish. Great value. *** (86)
Food match: BBQ ribs; spicy pastas

Domaine de Sérame Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (Languedoc)
$12.95 (LCBO #35006)
This wine is dense purple in colour –always a sign of lots of flavour – with a smoky, cedar and black raspberry bouquet; it's medium to full-bodied with sweet, juicy blackcurrant fruit and a whisper of oak on the finish. **** (88)
Food match: grilled Italian sausage; lamb burgers

Suavia Soave Classico 2008 (Veneto)
$19.95 (Vintages #165654)
One of the best Soaves I've tasted in some time. It has a rich nose of stone fruits with citrus notes. It's medium-bodied and full on the palate with lively flavours of peach and pineapple, nicely integrated oak and lingers on the palate. ****½ (89)
Food match: grilled trout; Camembert cheese
