Torres Sangre de Toro 2007 (Spain)
$11.95 (LCBO #6585)
A blend of Garnacha and Cariñena grapes grown in Catalunya, this bargain-priced wine has a bouquet of cherry, chocolate and leather. It's dry, medium-bodied with a savoury cherry taste and carries its 13.5 per cent alcohol very well. ***½ (86+)
Food match: pizza; tomato-based pasta

William Fèvre Champs Royaux 2008 (Burgundy)
$22.10 (LCBO #276436)
This medium-bodied Chablis tastes like biting into a crisp green apple right out of the fridge. It has a long, lemony finish. ****½ (89)
Food match: oysters; seafood salad

Gonzales-Byass Alfonso Seco Oloroso (Jerez, Spain)
$14.95 (Vintages #954776)
Deep topaz in colour, this sherry has lifted flavours of raisins, prunes and nuts. It's completely dry on the finish with a long aftertaste. Great value. Serve it lightly chilled. ****½ (89)
Food match: tapas; salted almonds
