Three Aussie wines from Vintages' release on Saturday July 24:

Pirramimma Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (McLaren Vale, South Australia)
$23.95 (Vintages #730374)
A real cracker of a Cabernet. Dense ruby-black in colour; cedar and blackcurrant on the nose with a suggestion of spicy oak; medium-bodied, elegant, nicely balanced with a floral note in mid palate. Firm on the finish. ***** (90)
Food match: rack of lamb; veal chop

St. Hallett Gamekeeper's Shiraz 2008 (Barossa, South Australia)
$14.95 (Vintages #166991)
They don't get much better than this for the price. Dense purple in colour; intense blackberry and spicy oak nose; full-bodied, sweet, spicy fruit with lively acidity. Loads of fruit. ****½ (89)
Food match: pork ribs; hamburgers

D'Arenberg The Dry Dam Riesling 2008 (McLaren Vale, South Australia)

Light straw with a green tint; on the nose, petrol, lime with a mineral note; spritzy with a good balance of sweet fruit with lemon-lime acidity. ****½ (89)
Food match: Thai dishes; pork loin
