La Maison du Cremant Brut
If you like a glass of bubbly but the price of champagne makes it a wine for celebrations only, try another French fizz that's nearer your budget. Crémant de Bourgogne is a sparkling wine made in Burgundy from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay or Pinot Blanc. Currently at Vintages is La Maison du Crémant Brut Crémant de Bourgogne. It has a chalky, mineral and grapefruit nose with a lively citrus and apple skin flavour. It's medium-bodied and crisply dry. It costs $16.95 at Vintages. That's La Maison du Crémant Brut Crémant de Bourgogne from Burgundy. Just the job to launch a daughter into marriage. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com. ($16.95, Vintages #127811)

François Lurton Terre de Luna Alta Coleccion Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Argentina is best known for its Malbec wines but they can make some pretty nifty Cabernet Sauvignons as well. And they're well priced. Take François Lurton Terre de Luna Alta Coleccion Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 for example at $13.95. Newly listed at Vintages outlets, this wine is dense purple in colour with an earthy, spicy nose and a floral top note. It's medium to full-bodied, firmly structured and dry with herbal, blackcurrant and cherry flavours. I'd cellar it for about a year. Then serve it with lamb. That's François Lurton Terre de Luna Alta Coleccion Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 from Argentina at Vintages. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #614644)
