Lot # Wine

White Burgundy

1 2002 Dauvissat Chablis Vaillons ( 6 )
Supple, yet lean and tautly structured beneath, this is dense and vibrant, featuring a core of honeysuckle, melon, mineral and vanilla flavors. Wine Spectator 93/100
2003 Dauvissat Chablis Les Clos ( 6 )
A big, lush white, exhibiting peach, vanilla and mineral aromas and flavors that remain bright and moderately intense through the lingering finish. Oak is dominant at this stage, so give it a few months to settle down. Wine Spectator 89/100
Burgundy, France – 12 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,730 – Starting Bid: $650

2 1996 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne ( 1 )
2000 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne ( 1 )
2003 Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne ( 1 )
1996 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne ( 1 )
2000 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne ( 1 )
2003 Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne ( 1 )
Burgundy, France – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,740 – Starting Bid: $650

3 2003 Louis Latour Puligny Montrachet Folatieres ( 1 )
The apple and quince takes center stage here, along with mineral and pepper notes. The terroir is amplified by the vintage, yet in doing so, loses a little clarity. Wine Spectator 90/100
2003 M. Colin Deleger Puligny Montrachet Truffiere ( 3 )
Clean and pure, exploding with beautiful spice, honey and lemon flavors in a firm package that's not too oaky. Full-bodied, the texture is supple and smooth despite all the citrusy acidity. Wine Spectator 91/100
2005 Lucien Le Moine Hospices de Beaune Meursault Genevrieres ( 3 )
Rich, but the lively structure keeps the lime, toast, spice and hazelnut flavors alive and persistent. Though elegant, this remains focused and long, with a vein of mineral underlining it all. Best from 2009 through 2020. Wine Spectator 93/100
Burgundy, France – 7 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,950 – Starting Bid: $750

4 1999 Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis La Guiche ( 1 )
With terrific harmony and balance, along with a vibrant structure and finesse, this is about as good as Chardonnay gets. Endless finish. Best from 2007 through 2025. Wine Spectator 95/100
2003 Louis Latour Batard Montrachet ( 1 )
Broad and powerful, with focus and a moderately firm structure, including tannins, to keep the baked apple, lime blossom and hazelnut flavors defined. Good length. Drink now through 2010. Wine Spectator 89/100
1999 Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis La Guiche ( 3 )
With terrific harmony and balance, along with a vibrant structure and finesse, this is about as good as Chardonnay gets. Endless finish. Best from 2007 through 2025. Wine Spectator 95/100
Burgundy, France – 5 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $3,375 – Starting Bid: $1,250

Red Burgundy

5 1997 Louis Latour Chambertin Cuvee Heritiers ( 2 )
A steel-coiled structure backs it all up, with a long, tannin- and alcohol-driven finish. Very compact and monolithic now. Best from 2009 through 2020. Wine Spectator 92/100
1999 Louis Latour Clos Vougeot ( 4 )
There's plenty of structure in this beefy red, but for now the flavors are well-submerged and this is tannic and tight. Hints of cherry, raspberry, spice and mineral. Wine Spectator 89/100
Burgundy, France – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $2,200 – Starting Bid: $900

A true collector's item! The following three lots of Lucien Le Moine Hospices de Beaune Burgundies were made specially for Geddy Lee, lead singer of the iconic rock band Rush. All labels have been signed by Geddy.

6 2005 Lucien Le Moine Hospices de Beaune Clos des Avaux ( 3 )
Crisp and focused, with lots of distinctive raspberry flavor shaded by plum and anise notes. A tasty wine that is drinkable now. Should be a beauty. Wine Spectator 90/100

6a 2005 Lucien Le Moine Hospices de Beaune Corton Vergennes ( 3 )
Dark and brooding, offering black cherry and blackberry flavors, with mineral and spice, all wrapped in stiff tannins. These feel more like oak tannins, so give this some time. There's plenty of fruit. Wine Spectator 90/100
Burgundy, France – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,800 – Starting Bid: $750

7 2005 Lucien Le Moine Hospices de Beaune Mazis Chambertin Cuvee Madame Collignon
Violet, cassis, licorice, black cherry and mineral aromas and flavors permeate this wild red. Dense tannins emphasize its wild side, yet it retains a sense of grace and harmony, even at this young stage. Wine Spectator 94/100
Burgundy, France – 3 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $2,025 – Starting Bid: $750

8 1997 Joseph Drouhin Romanee St. Vivant ( 2 )
Reserved, with a spicy black cherry character and richness that remain one-dimensional. Well structured and balanced, but finishes a little short. Wine Spectator 87/100
1999 Domaine de l'Arlot Romanee St. Vivant ( 1 – 1500 mL )
This full bodied red is tough and angular and a bit woody. Needs years of cellaring to show it all but loads of ripe fruit, tannin and mineral character anchors it in pedigreed Burgundian soil. Best from 2010 to 2017. Wine Spectator 92/100
1998 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux ( 2 )
Thick, layered with deftly dosed oak notes of mocha, coffee and smoke. It turns up the volume in the midpalate, ripping with fresh, black fruit that vaults with Olympic grace to a long, long finish. Wine Spectator 90/100
Burgundy, France – 4 Bottles (750ml) & 1 Magnum (1500 mL)
Lot Value: $3,155 – Starting Bid: $1,500

9 2001 Gros Frere et Soeur Richebourg
Dark as ink and as sweet as it gets, with firm but ripe tannins, this full-bodied red swirls around the palate, delivering layer upon layer of delicious red and black berries, smoke, spices, mocha, toasted wood and sweet oak. Best from 2006 through 2012. Wine Spectator 96/100
Burgundy, France – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $3,750 – Starting Bid: $1,750

California

10 2001 Araujo Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ( 3 )
Wonderful complexity, depth and finesse, with layers of mocha, espresso, currant, wild berry and vanilla bean flavors that are sharply focused, finishing with tight yet supple tannins and a long, rich aftertaste with layers of complexity. Best from 2005 through 2012. Wine Spectator 92/100
2002 Araujo Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ( 3 )
Firm, rich and concentrated, with ample tannins wrapped around a core of earth, currant and black cherry fruit. With excellent balance and depth, it serves up lots of rich, complex flavors without being heavy, offering a floral, perfumed currant edge. Best from 2007 through 2014. Wine Spectator 95/100
Napa, California – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $4,050 – Starting Bid: $2,000

11 2003 Araujo Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ( 3 )
Wonderfully executed ripe cherry and currant-laced fruit is shaded by spicy, toasty oak that picks up hints of mocha and espresso. Avoids excessive ripeness and is well-balanced, with a long finish that shows firm, structured tannins and a touch of mineral. Best from 2009 through 2013. Wine Spectator 91/100
1997 Araujo Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ( 3 )
Balanced, though short on depth, offering an appealing mix of dried currant, berry, cedar and anise, though it dries out and has a nutty edge on the finish. Wine Spectator 87/100
Napa, California – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $4,050 – Starting Bid: $2,000

12 2000 Araujo Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Complete and very complex, exhibiting rich plum and red currant flavors, with touches of anise, sage, herb and mineral. Plush, focused aftertaste. Best from 2005 through 2013. Wine Spectator 92/100
Napa, California – 3 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $3,600 – Starting Bid: $2,000

13 2003 Harlan Estate Matriarch
Creamy vanilla oak adds a nice flavor dimension to the rich, elegant layers of currant, blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors. Intense and persistent, offering a long, complex aftertaste, with hints of mineral and sage. Best from 2008 through 2012. Wine Spectator 90/100
Napa, California – 3 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,250 – Starting Bid: $700

14 2004 Kistler Chardonnay Durell Vineyard ( 1 )
The high-toned oak is toasty and smoky, with a touch of vanilla and yeasty dough scents. This is trim and focused on the palate, showing hints of green apple, citrus, lemon and cedary oak, with a long finish. Wine Spectator 91/100
2005 Kistler Chardonnay Durell Vineyard ( 3 )
Exotic, rich and complex aromatics of white peach, toasty oak, tangerine, nectarine, mineral and pebble, ending with a lively, elegant beam of fruit flavors that are long and lingering. Drink now through 2011. Wine Spectator 92/100
Sonoma, California – 3 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,125 – Starting Bid: $650

Rhone

15 2002 Jean Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc ( 2 )
Lovely notes of lemon curd, crème fraîche, bitter almond and dried peach and pineapple run through a long, creamy finish. As beautiful as the flavors are, the texture and drive through the finish are even better. Really gorgeous feel. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 94/100
2004 Beaucastel Vieilles Vignes Blanc ( 2 )
Rich and creamy, with an array of floral, tropical fruit and mineral notes that race through a long, stony finish. Drink now through 2012. 2,000 cases made. Wine Spectator 92/100
2001 Chateau Rayas ( 3 )
Traditional style, and lovely, with sous bois character dominating the dried currant, balsa wood and game flavors. Shows young Grenache's brick and tea leaf notes, but the supple texture and harmonious finish put on weight with air, boding well for cellaring. Drink now through 2011. Wine Spectator 91/100
Rhone, France – 7 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $3,150 – Starting Bid: $1,500

16 1998 Chateau de Beaucastel ( 6 )
Very youthful, with a juicy blast of red plum and fig fruit flavors on a racy frame, this also has plenty of spice, tar, plum cake and mineral in reserve, as the finish shows more structure and slowly darkens with time in the glass. Wine Spectator 98/100
1998 Chateau de Beaucastel ( 6 )
Very youthful, with a juicy blast of red plum and fig fruit flavors on a racy frame, this also has plenty of spice, tar, plum cake and mineral in reserve, as the finish shows more structure and slowly darkens with time in the glass. Wine Spectator 98/100

Tuscany

19 1986 Castello Banfi Poggio alle Mura Brunello di Montalcino
Ripe, rich, chewy and supple, offering layers of spicy cherry, plum, oak and anise aromas and flavors that stay on through the long finish. A stylish Italian red that's beautifully crafted. Wine Spectator 91/100
Tuscany, Italy – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $1,710 – Starting Bid: $750

Bordeaux

20 2000 Chateau Mouton Rothschild
Rich, with loads of tobacco, berry, currant and coffee. Full-bodied and round, with velvety tannins and a long, vanilla aftertaste. If this had a tiny bit more concentration in the center palate, it would be a few points more. Still, it's an outstanding wine. A generous and opulent Mouton. Best after 2009. Wine Spectator 93/100
Pauillac, France – 1 Magnum (1500 mL)
Lot Value: $4,500 – Starting Bid: $2,000

21 1978 Chateau Petrus ( 1 )
Looks rather mature, with hints of garnet on the rim, but the aromas of tobacco, truffles and earth are decadent. Full-bodied, with rich, opulent flavors and a lovely ripe finish. Like an autumn day. Wine Spectator 89/100
1986 Chateau Leoville Las Cases ( 3 )
Firm and focused, with beautifully articulated currant, raspberry and nutmeg aromas and flavors; very supple for such a lean-textured Bordeaux. Approaching drinkability. Wine Spectator 95/100
Pomerol & St. Julien, France – 3 bottles (750ml) & 1 Magnum (1500 mL)
Lot Value: $5,680 – Starting Bid: $3,000

1990 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion ( 2 )
Dark ruby color. Subdued aromas of minerals, berries, tobacco and earth. Full-bodied and very chewy, with masses of fruit and tannins. Still a baby. Really superb.--1990 Bordeaux retrospective. 7,000 cases made. Wine Spectator 95/100
St. Emilion & Pessac, France – 5 bottles (750ml)
Lot Value: $4,155 – Starting Bid: $2,200

23 1970 Chateau Margaux ( 1 )
Medium garnet-ruby; fragrant, ripe cassis and tar nose, with spicy accents; elegant, ripe cassis flavor; less concentrated and less full than Palmer or Rausan-Ségla; perhaps slightly dried out. Wine Spectator 88/100
1970 Chateau Lafite Rothschild – ( 1 Magnum)
Pale garnet; cedary nose, with vanilla nuances; very concentrated; shows elegant, stylish cassis and tea flavors, but lacks the density and vigor of Mouton and Latour. Wine Spectator 89/100
1970 Chateau Mouton Rothschild ( 1 )
Deep garnet; fragrant tar and black truffle nose; extremely concentrated; big and mouth-filling, with very dense cassis flavor; enormous, generous fruit; a voluptuous claret. Wine Spectator 96/100
Margaux & Pauillac, France – 2 Bottles (750ml) & 1 Magnum (1500 mL)
Lot Value: $3,645 – Starting Bid: $2,000

24 1982 Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste ( 3 )
Not as impressive as it once was; nonetheless, a rich and caressing wine. Sweet berry flavor, with hints of tobacco and raisin. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a caressing finish. Wine Spectator 92/100
1995 Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste ( 3 )
Beautiful aromas of currant, plum and spice. Full-bodied, with a wonderful concentration of fruit, yet silky, racy and beautiful. Hold back on this. Better than I remember. Wine Spectator 93/100
Pauillac, France – 6 Bottles (750 mL)
Lot Value: $3,225 – Starting Bid: $1,800

25 1989 Chateau Palmer ( 2 )
