Château des Charmes Generation Seven Red 2009 (Ontario)
$13.95 (LCBO #198036)
A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Gamay Noir. Light ruby in colour with a nose of plums and cherries. East drinking, dry with good acidity. Chillable. Comes across like a fruity Beaujolais. ***½ (86)
Food match: hamburger; pizza

Perrin & Fils Peyre Blanche Cairanne 2007 (Rhône)
$17.95 (Vintages #650960)
Bright purple colour with a nose of raspberries, violets, white pepper and licorice; full-bodied and very well balanced with a long finish. Great value ***** (91)
Food match: steak; game dishes

Vignerons de Caractère Les Hauts du Castellas Vacquéras 2007 (Rhône)
$18.95 (Vintages #177634)
A really gutsy Rhône. Dense ruby-purple colour; a nose of blackberries with a whiff of the barnyard; full-bodied rich but not overblown with lots of flavour and soft tannins. Great value. ****½ (90)
Food match: cassoulet; fresh parmesan
