680News wine reviews – September 24–26, 2010

Antinori Castello della Sala Bramito del Cervo Chardonnay 2008
Antinori is one of the historic names in Italian winemaking. You probably know Antinori from their range of reds made in the Chianti region and other parts of Tuscany. The family also has holdings in Umbria where they produce top-flight white wines. Released tomorrow at Vintages is Antinori Castello della Sala Bramito del Cervo Chardonnay 2008, a beautifully made wine with rich flavours of apple, caramel and lemon, dressed lightly in oak. It costs $21.95 at Vintages and is worth every penny. Try it with grilled salmon. That's Antinori Castello della Sala Bramito del Cervo Chardonnay 2008 from Umbria. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($21.95, Vintages #176792)

Robert Oatley Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Australian Robert Oatley used to own Rosemount Estate and in 2006 he established his new winery in Mudgee where he and his family make a range of wines under the Robert Oatley label. Released last week at Vintages is Robert Oatley Sauvignon Blanc 2009. The fruit for this wine comes from the cool-climate region of Pemberton in Western Australia, which give it a lot of zestiness. Flavours of green plum, green pea and cut grass dance on the palate. It costs $17.95. Try it with spaghetti vongole. That's Robert Oatley Sauvignon Blanc 2009 from Australia at Vintages. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com. ($17.95, Vintages #186106)
