Concilio Braide Teroldego Rotaliano 2008
Teroldego is a grape indigenous to Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region in the north east of the country. Currently at Vintages is one of the best examples of this grape variety I've tasted: Concilio Braide Teroldego Rotaliano 2008. It's dense purple in colour with a minerally cherry nose with creamy oak. Medium-bodied, it has a rustic black cherry flavour with lively acidity. It sells in Vintages for $13.95 and works well with hearty winter casseroles. That's Concilio Braide Teroldego Rotaliano 2008 from Italy. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #989392)

Banfi Centine 2007
You don't see many 375 mL bottles of wine at Vintages these days, but this half-bottle format is perfect for two people at dinner. Banfi Centine 2007 is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Tuscany and it's a real bargain at $8.95 a half bottle. It has an earthy, cherry bouquet with a flavour of dry cherry and toasted herbs with a note of licorice. It's firmly structured and you could keep it for a couple of years. Try it with ossobuco or any braised meat dish. That's Banfi Centine 2007 from Tuscany at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com. ($8.95 for 375 ml, Vintages #182238)
