Tandem Peloton Red 2007
From time to time I come across a great bargain at Vintages. Tandem Peloton 2007 is a fruit salad of a blend from California. It's got Zinfandel, Carignane, Sangiovese, Syrah, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Viognier-Gewurztraminer. Released at $34.95, it's now $19.95. The winemaker Greg Lafollette also makes the wines at DeLoach in Sonoma. Lovers of big red blends shouldn't miss this unique blend with its savoury flavours of black fruits. Good for steak and hearty casseroles. That's Tandem Peleton Red 2007 from California at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com ($19.95, Vintages #686261)

Laurent Miquel Unoaked Chardonnay 2009
The Languedoc in southern France produces bargain-priced varietal wines. Laurent Miquel Unoaked Chardonnay 2009 is a wine with enough spiciness to suggest that it's spent time in oak – but it hasn't. Pale straw in colour with spicy, clove, apple and melon nose, flavours that evolve on the palate with a touch of sweetness. It costs $11 a bottle at the LCBO. Try it with roast chicken or a nice runny camembert. That's Laurent Miguel Unoaked Chardonnay 2009 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 New and 680 News.com. ($11.00, LCBO #157909)
