680News wine reviews – November 12–14, 2010

Domaine Lou Moural Collection Réservée Minervois 2007
Here's a well-priced blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan from the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Domaine Lou Moural Collection Réservée Minervois 2007, currently at Vintages outlets for $12.95. Deep ruby in colour, it has a lovely nose of raspberries and rose petals; it's medium-bodied with fruity flavours of black raspberry and plum with spicy oak. Try it with beef casserole. That's Domaine Lou Moural Collection Réservée Minervois 2007 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680News.com. ($12.95, Vintages #175190)

Casa Lapostolle Carménère 2008
Carménère, the signature grape of Chile, too often has a green pepper note because it's either underripe or overcropped. But Casa Lapostolle, guided by the Bordeaux oenologist Michel Rolland, gets it right. Casa Lapostolle Carménère 2008, on the LCBO's general list, is a dense purple colour. The bouquet is all creamy blackcurrants with a cedary note. It's full-bodied with a rich mouth-feel and sweet, bright fruit and cocoa powder tannins. It costs $15.95 a bottle. Serve it with steak. That's Casa Lapostolle Carmenère 2008 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680News.com. ($15.95, LCBO #168740)
