Graffigna Centenario Pinot Grigio Reserve 2010 (Argentina)
$12.95 (LCBO #164756)
I'm usually not a great fan of Pinot Grigio; there are too many insipid examples on the market, but this one has real flavour. Peachy on the nose, it has a mouth-filling taste of pear and peace with lively acidity. **** (88)
Food match: pan-fried trout; grilled scallops

Hidden Bench Chardonnay Estate 2007 (Ontario)
$35.20 (Vintages #68817)
One of the best Ontario Chardonnays I've come across in a long time. It's straw-coloured with a nose of apple, pear, minerals, and a smoky note; it's medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced with well-extracted savoury fruit, creamy oak and mineral flavours, and a long finish. It costs $35.20 but great Chardonnay never comes cheap. If you can't find it at Vintages outlets, track it down through the winery. ***** (92)
Food match: grilled salmon; steamed lobster

Domaine Gavélan Paroles de Femme 2007 (Côtes du Rhône)
$15.00 (Vintages #125930)
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. Ruby-purple in colour, it offers a nose of black raspberries, cassis, and violets; it's medium to full-bodied, well-structured and elegant with a long finish. And it's got a velvety mouth feel. Great value. ***** (90)
Food match: grilled steak; lamb stew
