  • Lindeman Bin 50 Shiraz 2001
  • Château des Charmes Gewurztraminer 2000

Pierre Sparr Riesling 2000 (Alsace)
$11.95 (LCBO general release)
Straw colour; a bouquet of minerals and tangerine with a honeyed note; fresh and lively on the palate, fills the mouth with lime and white honey flavours; good length, great value.
Food match: baked salmon, Thai salad

Lindeman Bin 50 Shiraz 2001 (Australia)
($21.95 for 1.5 Litre, LCBO general release)
Ruby colour; a nose of raspberries and new leather; medium-bodied, sweetish raspberry flavour with lively acidity. Simple and straightforward, fruit-driven but well made.
Food match: glazed ham, Peking Duck

Château des Charmes Gewurztraminer 2000 (Ontario)
($14.95, Vintages stores, January release)
This is the best Gewurz I have tried from Ontario. Medium straw colour with a true varietal nose of lychee and rose petal. Round on the palate with a lychee and grapefruit flavour, richly extracted and full-bodied.
Food match: lightly curried dishes, Münster cheese
